Amazing Ultralight Backpacking Stove

The Penny Ultralight Alcohol Backpacking Stove by Mark Jurey makes me want to change from my Altoid®,  Esbit® model.  Old habits die hard but this could easily become a favorite, of course with my trusty Altoid® tin stashed in a corner of my pack.  Esbit® at times is in very short supply and not exactly the cheapest fuel.  On long trips, I’ve been known to also carry an ordinary soda can alcohol burner, but didn’t like it as a primary due to its tendency to tip over and spill fuel.  Also unlike the solid fuel, you couldn’t put it out and save the unspent fuel… at least not my model.

Anyway, I was twittering and found this stove, with instructions to make your own, Penny Ultralight Alcohol Backpacking Stove. I’m not very handy so will have to wait to persuade someone to make me one.  Also since I am taking soooooooooo long to get the recipe section going check out his favorite recipe section, it may fill some needs.  Instructions are free, all he asks is you send a donation to Sierra Club if you are so inclined.  My recipe section can now be found under the drop down recipe/menu tab.  I still may move it to another domain, but not yet.
