Three types of  backpacking sleeping pads.  Pros and cons.
Open cell foam- Pro: very light, compacts easily   Con:  absorbs water
Closed cell foam- Pro: lightweight,inexpensive      Con:  not as comfortable as other types
Air-  Pro: compacts easily, most comfortable.        Con:  weighs more than closed cell, not as durable
